If you have a gravity-fed system with a cold water tank in the loft, a power shower with a built-in pump is the most effective solution. If you’re on mains pressure but it’s still weak, a thermostatic mixer with a separate booster pump works well. Electric showers are independent of your hot water system and work on any mains pressure, making them a reliable fallback. We’ll assess your system before recommending anything.

This is usually caused by a worn thermostatic cartridge, a failing heating element (in electric showers), or insufficient hot water supply from your boiler or cylinder. In mixer showers, a faulty cartridge is often the culprit and can be replaced without retiling. We diagnose the cause first so we’re only replacing what actually needs replacing.

In most cases, yes. The cartridge inside a thermostatic or manual valve can usually be replaced through the faceplate without touching the surrounding tiles. If the valve body itself needs replacing, a small amount of tile removal may be needed, but we always work to minimise this and can advise on matching replacement tiles if required. We’ll give you a clear picture before starting.

A like-for-like shower replacement typically takes 2 to 4 hours. A full installation including a new tray, enclosure, and valve usually takes a full day. If new pipework runs or electrical work are involved, we’ll factor this into your quote and timeline upfront. You’ll always know exactly how long we’ll be there before we arrive.
